Marco: Main Character; The oldest. Likes to go to different places by riding the buses and trains. He is brave and protective of his two sisters.
Lilly: Is the middle child, she doesnt have any friends because everyone thinks shes weird. Lilly is different then all the other kids. She sees weird things that no one else sees. Lilly is the only one that can see the portal.
Ruth: The youngest child of the family. She is always wanting attention from Lilly. Ruth is just learning to talk and shes a big tattletale, always trying to get Marco in trouble.

Theme
Marco goes through the portal and finds The Unknowable, and gets sucked in. Marco finds other worm-holes that lead to other universes. Marco falls into one of the portals and the creatures there welcomed him. They told him that he needed to find a magic box that could control The Unknowable before it destroyed there planet and his own planet. Time was slower in all these other worlds then his own. After Marco traveled to several other worlds, he found the box. The box was used to control time. What he needed to do is get back to his world and set the box to slow and throw it into The Unknowable. He didnt know it but, 20 years had past in his world, but to him only a few days had past. He got home after stoping The Unknowable and was shocked to see the changes. His whole family had died in a head on car crash, all except Ruth. Ruth didnt know Marco because she was so young when he left so she didnt like him. Then Marco found out that Lilly had a baby, and Ruth was taking care of her. Thats were it ends and it continues in the next book "The Boxes"
